PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, part of Florida State University’s College of Business, has named Courtney Mickens associate director of its Palm Beach County Operations.

Mickens has served as coordinator for South Florida Operations since 2015, working out of the Fort Lauderdale office. In her new position, she will be responsible for the development and expansion of the Small Business Executive Program and Nonprofit Executive Program in Palm Beach County.

“We are thrilled that Courtney will be taking the leadership role in Palm Beach County and know her experience and enthusiasm will be tremendously beneficial as we grow our programs in that county,” said Jennifer Kovach, director of South Florida Operations. “She has been a true asset to Jim Moran Institute from day one and a major contributor to our accomplishments.

The Jim Moran Institute provides executive programs for CEOs, entrepreneurs, business owners, presidents and executive directors of small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Graduates emerge with the skills and training needed to capitalize on business opportunities, implement best practice management and turn challenges into strategic advantage.  These programs are offered twice a year at no cost to the accepted participants.

Mickens has significant experience in the nonprofit arena, having served as the director of Marketing and Communication for The Fountain of New Life Church, where she handled numerous responsibilities including office management, data management and community outreach coordination. She also took on the role of Worship and Creative Arts director, which gave her insight into handling event management, commercial production, human resource management and graphic arts.

“I am excited and looking forward to providing businesses with greater access to the Jim Moran Institute for the Palm Beach County area,” Mickens said. “We have so much to offer to the business community, and I want to ensure we are known as a viable resource to small business owners and nonprofit leaders.”

Mickens is a graduate of Leadership Hollywood Class 41 and a member of the Alliance of Entrepreneur Resource Organizations, as well as a number of chambers of commerce. Mickens earned a Bachelor of Science in management from Florida State University.
